<p dir="ltr"><span style="background-color:transparent">Après avoir passé près d'une quinzaine d'années dans différentes organisations (Nestlé, Unilever, Club Méditerranée) en charge du marketing comme de l'innovation, il rejoint l’ESSEC Business School en 2008 pour diriger l’Institut de Stratégie d’Innovations dans les Services. Dans ce cadre il développe plusieurs chaires dont la chaire d’innovation dans les services.</span></p>\n

<p dir="ltr"><span style="background-color:transparent">En 2012 il créée le centre iMagination dont les travaux sont dédiés à l’imagination, à l'innovation et à la transdisciplinarité pour l'émergence de l'innovation responsable. A travers l’iMagination week (pour les étudiants de Bachelor, Master et executive) ce centre aide les managers d'aujourd'hui et de demain à comprendre le monde en mouvement tout en les rendant acteurs du monde à construire. En 2015, l’iMagination Week reçoit le Prix de l’excellence pédagogique. En 2017 l'iMagination Week est reconnue comme l'une des expériences pédagogiques les plus innovantes par l'AASCB et lors des Reimagine Education Awards - The Wharton - QS Stars. En 2021, l'iMagination Week est lauréat des Trophées des Campus Responsables, Pédagogie pour une société durable. </span></p>\n

<p dir="ltr"><span style="background-color:transparent">Ses recherches se sont tournées depuis 2008 autour de la notion d’innovation et d’innovateur responsable à la lumière de la philosophe et des exercices spirituels et en 2011 il est en charge de définir l’innovation-responsable avec l’appui d’un réseau d’universités internationales au sein d’un projet soutenu par la commission européenne. En 2014 il est nommé Président de la commission d’évaluation « Innovation-régulation-gouvernance » de l’ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) dans le cadre « Horizon 2020 ». </span></p>\n

<p dir="ltr"><span style="background-color:transparent">Ses années passées en Asie lui ont permis d’accentuer ses recherches concernant l’innovation responsable avec un regard dépassant le cadre européen. Cela s’est notamment traduit par le développement de plusieurs cas autour de l’innovation responsable auprès d’ONG que ce soit aux Philippines (Gawad Kalinga), Cambodge (Pour un Sourire d’Enfant et Passerelles Numériques), en Malaisie (Dignity) et en Inde (Auroville).</span></p>\n

<p dir="ltr"><span style="background-color:transparent">Xavier Pavie a publié une vingtaine d’ouvrages et articles en management et en philosophie tant académiques qu’à destination d’un plus large public. Auteur d’une thèse sur la réception des exercices spirituels dans la philosophie contemporaine, il continue de publier régulièrement sur ce thème. Son ouvrage, « L’innovation à l’épreuve de la philosophie » (PUF 2018) a été élu meilleur ouvrage de management 2019 par la FNEGE. Derniers ouvrages parus: « Philosophie critique de l'innovation et de l'innovateur » (ISTE - Wiley 2020) et « Exercices spirituels philosophiques » (PUF 2022).</span></p>\n

Author of a thesis on the reception of spiritual exercises in contemporary philosophy, he continues to regularly publish on that topic. His book, « L’innovation à l’épreuve de la philosophie » (PUF 2018) won the Award Best Management book of the Year 2019. "fr" => "L’actuelle stratégie de l’entreprise possède une première particularité qui est celle de la cohérence, caractéristique non-négligeable puisque cela n’a pas toujours été le cas. En effet, la politique de montée en gamme est réductrice si l’on ne regarde que l’ouverture des derniers villages. Il faut souligner la vente des activités telles que Jet Tours, le ClubMedWorld ou encore le ClubMedGym. À cela s’ajoute un recentrage des villages sur le « haut de gamme » qui s’est opéré de trois façons : d’une part, la cession des villages qui n’étaient plus en lien avec la stratégie (essentiellement ceux acquis sous l’ère de la précédente stratégie avec la marque Aquarius) ; deuxièmement, la rénovation des villages les plus désuets mais dont les caractéristiques correspondaient à la vision et enfin, l’ouverture de villages « premiums ». Il serait naïf d’imaginer que le bâtiment fait tout dans une organisation de service : au-delà des villages eux-mêmes, il est indispensable de souligner les efforts mis en place à destination des GO (Gentils Organisateurs) : formations pour tous, recrutements plus exigeants, etc. Il est intéressant de noter que cette population est tout à fait oubliée dans les débats actuels, pourtant ces managers de proximité ont tous adhéré à la stratégie dès son lancement en 2001. Face à leurs concurrents locaux, ils ont été non seulement les exécutants de la stratégie mais souvent les premiers moteurs."

This is partly due to the series of recent market events which have contributed to the ever-increasing attention directed at the notion of responsible innovation. The race to market for technological and non-technological innovations is ever increasing in pace and enduring pressure from an ever more globalised market. At the same time, the newly released products and services stand under constant scrutiny by the hordes of social media users, capable of destroying a company’s global reputation in a matter of minutes. It is therefore now in an organisation’s best interest to be responsible. Naturally, an organisation’s very survival depends on its ability to create value and be profitable, in other words, innovation is essential to the modern organisation’s growth and development. However, innovation and responsibility have traditionally been considered to hamper one another. How can a firm achieve the right balance to keep innovating on products, services and processes while implementing responsibility all along its activities? Research suggests that this very balance could become an invaluable source of competitive advantage. Design thinking, in analogy with industrial design, is a creative discipline which is deployed within organisations’ innovation processes. As such, design thinking is a very useful tool in developing responsible innovation, since it combines scientific rigour and technique with an understanding of human needs, while also incorporating an organisation’s own economic imperatives. This modern approach therefore aims to achieve a responsible development for both the organisation and its innovations. This paper will begin by determining exactly what is meant by responsible innovation. It will then describe why design thinking is an effective method for integrating responsible innovation and present the results of a study which aimed to develop a way of integrating responsibility into the innovation process, using design thinking."

In an economic context always more global and more competitive, innovation can only be at the core of any strategy. At the same time, the race for innovation in the world today raises new questions. These questions stem most of the time from the impossibility to forecast the result of the innovations: will it be successful or not? More exactly the questions innovation raise are also about its consequences on all the society, and not only on the economics, as Schumpeter assumed (Schumpeter, 1939). The consequences of innovation can stretch to the environment, to the society and to social topics. They are to be placed under the innovator’s yoke as well. Thus the particularities of the responsible-innovation have to take into account these important questions and to be articulated according to different topics. "fr" => "This paper presents the results of a study conducted with several major actors from the French financial industry, which aimed at developing a process for developing responsible innovations by deploying a design thinking method. We begin by presenting the context for the study which includes a brief description of our approach for understanding and exploring the issues raised by responsible innovation in a practical context. Secondly, the design thinking method is introduced as a potentially suitable approach for addressing wicked problems and thus, the integration of responsible innovation. The paper will conclude with a presentation of the process for developing responsible products and services which was developed throughout the study. The main purpose of the paper is thus to demonstrate that integrating responsibility in innovation does not have to become a constraint if it is incorporated as a tool for stimulating the creative capacity of innovation teams."

By nature, innovation gives birth to development for the organization and can only be at the core of any strategy within an ever-increasingly global economic context. However it also raises new questions stemming mostly from the impossibility to forecast the success of the innovations. More precisely, the questions raised by innovation also concern its consequences on society as a whole. Today, the innovator should understand his responsibility, the consequence of each innovation. Moreover, common acceptance of the word ‘responsibility’ raises some questions about its use and how it should be understood. What does ‘responsibility’ mean? Who is responsible and for what? Through the notion of ‘care’, we aim at providing an evolution of responsible-innovation. The concept of ‘innovation-care’ is centered on people and more precisely focuses on taking care of them.
