Abstract
Mobility is one of the primary sources of greenhouse gas emissions in France, and above all the only one whose emissions are not decreasing, due to massive use of thermal combustion vehicles. Proposals abound to achieve their reduction: electric cars, bicycles, public transport, sobriety. However, there are very good reasons to doubt that these solutions alone will produce the expected effect. Just because the intention is good does not mean the result will be achieved. Bringing together an engineer, a physicist, an economist, a geographer and a territorial development specialist, this book shows that decarbonizing mobility requires a comprehensive vision… and will take time. While solutions for low-carbon mobility do exist, they must be acceptable to society and financially viable. This requires moving away from false certainties, normative discourse and moral injunctions. Quite a program, which this book reveals to us!
