"en" => "Due to the current worldwide financial, economic and social crisis, the notion of common good is quite fashionable. It is nevertheless deeply misunderstood. Misunderstandings may favor an incapacity to tackle the CSR problem which is at the core of the tension between business and the common good. Tackling the problem relevantly needs questioning economics compared to politics. This is done through an examination of the roots of modern political sciences, which drives to considering the way ancient political philosophy may help revisiting the tension between business and the common good."

The case discusses how Renault's introduction of its Dacia models to the French market in 2008 and 2009, and the centralization of the dealerships' recruitment decisions for all of their commercial positions helped Renault to integrate more female sales staff in its sales teams. Using business case arguments such as better responding to the needs of the increased numbers of female car buyers provided Renault's gender diversity initiative with relevant top management support. The case also describes how throughout the initiative's development and implementation phases Renault responded to challenges such as the negative image of the sector amongst women due to perceived chauvinism and the competitive ambiance."

Results indicate where legitimating logics originate in a sector, the pattern of diffusion of ideas across target populations, and their institutionalization in a sector leading to organizational change. It also highlights changes in power relations between target populations in the sector. The analysis presents an ongoing legitimacy process within the health care sector which has serious consequences for physicians and the way they work."

"en" => "In a former paper on the evolution of management education in France (Takagi and de Carlo, 2000), we highlighted the convergence of both the content and structure of programs in five key institutions dealing with management education in France. The first paper was based on archival and documentation research primarily using the neo-institutional approach to understand trends in the evolution of French management education. It identified the need for more qualitative data on the institutions studied to better understand these trends. In this paper therefore, we have chosen to focus on the change within the organizations we are studying, at a particular time in the history of this organizational field. In particular, we noticed in our first paper that new actors had appeared in this field at the end of the 1960's. These actors appeared concurrently to a major historical event in France, May 1968, which had a profound social, political and economic effect. Our goal in this paper is two fold, to understand how the actors-members of these organizations (professors, assistants, students, members of the administration) lived through this period, and by doing so to identify possible connections between the evolution of the organizational field of French management education at this time and the events of May 68, as well as the identity of each organization. The picture that emerges identifies specific key elements of the changes that took place in management education at the time, that lead to a greater convergence towards the North-American management education model. These elements are not only the result of the institutional environment of the organizations and the technical and economic model created by the United States at the time, but also are a consequence of the location of these organizations, the presence or absence of a charismatic leader among them, as well as the historical events of May 68."

"en" => "This paper investigates how physicians have reacted to institutional changes in the US health care sector by looking at their mobility between different work settings and changes in their attitudes between 1987 and 1991. Results indicate that while physician mobility within the time period indicates a preference for more traditional work settings, physician attitudes towards the different settings are less distinctive than expected implying that physicians are becoming more accommodating of institutional logics other than that of the profession, and also that organizations are less intrusive to professional work than hypothesized."

"en" => "In this paper, we develop a model for understanding why workers resist change which combines viewpoints from economics, cognitive psychology and the institutional theory of organizations. Using the principle-agent paradigm from economics, we bring to the study of resistance to change a powerful information perspective. We show that the standard economic theory alone falls short of explaining the phenomenon of resistance to change. However, by expanding the model to integrate notions of symbolic frameworks from institutional theory, and problematic cognitive processes, a model with descriptive validity emerges."
