Abstract
This study, based on an original quantitative and qualitative survey within the sample of female executives from the Women Board Ready ESSEC (14 promotions), aims to analyze the reasons why 44% of these women refuse the final step of an executive career: appointment to a position on the Executive Committee (CODIR), encouraged by the anticipation of the Rixain Law. Their way of viewing their relationship with ambition and power, along with a clash of values with the system, leads them to take a “step aside.” Companies should pay attention and redefine their recruitment and promotion criteria, as well as their arguments.
