The economic integration of Central European countries to the EU started in the beginning of the 1990’s. ESSEC Business School and food companies have heavily invested in Central Europe, particularly in Poland before May 1, 2004. Using managers’ experiences, the paper analyses the economic situation of the food manufacturing and retailing business in Central Europe in 2003-2004 and provides some perspectives for the future.
