Approaching organizations as a series of tensions which constantly need to ber re-balanced is utmost fruitful, practically as well as theoretically. The tension between recognizing complexity and needing simplicity is exceptionnally important among all the potential tensions, and may to a certain extent be traced back to the change and stability tension. One of the most efficient way to favour change is to recognize the dominant role of routines in organizations. People cannot overcome a problem without previously recognising it.
