Abstract
This article examines the normative foundations of contemporary innovation. After tracing the long history of the concept, from Mesopotamian mythologies to Schumpeterian theory, it analyzes its unthought anthropological, environmental, and political dimensions. Faced with the growing gap between transformative power and capacity for discernment, it proposes to link two conceptual pillars: an anticipatory responsibility, following Hans Jonas, and a philosophical spirituality understood as the inner formation of the subject, drawing on Paul Fauconnet and the ancient spiritual exercises revisited by Pierre Hadot and Xavier Pavie. Their interlinking defines a “responsible and spiritual innovator,” capable of subordinating the logic of “how” to the demand of “why.”
