Abstract
The article examines the role of managers who are called upon to take on responsibilities in crisis situations. It draws on the case of medical crisis directors (MCDs) in French hospitals. It shows how these doctors, thrust into crisis situations, develop organisational skills, structure teams and extend their activities beyond the crisis period, contributing to the normalisation of crises and the blurring of the lines between medical and managerial roles.
