Abstract
The article explores the current limitations of AI chatbots in mental health care. While these chatbots can offer immediate support and assist with mild symptoms of depression and anxiety, they lack the genuine empathy, nuanced understanding, and ethical judgment that human therapists provide. The World Health Organization emphasizes that AI should not be the sole provider of health care, highlighting the importance of human oversight. Leading AI mental health applications like Woebot, Youper, and Wysa position themselves as supplementary tools rather than replacements for traditional therapy.
