Abstract
The article is an English version of an article published 25 years ago in French. In this article, strategic management is presented as resulting from a balance between the economic, political and organizational dimensions of the firm. Favoring one dimension to the detriment of another gives rise to incoherent or destructive behaviour. Some thoughts on a “strategic mix” approach are presented and a method of reasoning that facilitates strategic analysis and formulation is proposed.
