Abstract
The article presents the changes which have taken place in the managerial practices of the industrial firms of the 80s. After a description of the context, the myths and utopias of the period, the article describes the different managerial approaches which have been put into practice. Managerial practices of the period have been classified in three broad categories : – the management of uncertainty (end of the planning golden age , emergence of strategic management , persistence of formalized approaches) , – the search for organizational flexibility (de-hierarchizing , decentralization , de-partitioning) , – the renewal of the sources of competitive advantage (productivity , innovation , quality , human resources management : training, participation, involvement).
