Abstract
The media put us in touch with global issues, and as a result we should all feel concerned. But since the ethics issue is monopolized by the state, which practices a priori and a posteriori control, everyone feels a deep sense of impotence at best, resignation at worst, and France is still the most poorly ranked of the wealthy nations in terms of corruption. Rediscovering the meaning of the ethics of proximity means finding a sense of accountability and managing our own local issues in accordance with globally acceptable values.
