This article puts forward a definition of adaptability of expatriates. Adaptability is defined according to a three-dimensional concept of adjustment. It shows that the individual qualities necessary to adapt are different depending on the facet of adjustment taken into consideration. The results have a direct implication for the companies at the moment of selecting expatriates.
