The article analyses the concepts of “Space and Places” as they appear in the most recent scientific works on cities in the fields of economy, anthropology, history, geography… The contributions of 17 leading researchers in social sciences are discussed from a collective point of view. Many themes are related to demography, urban dynamics, centrality, perceptions, mental representations, social networks, spatial division of space, slum districts.
