Working Time in a Model of Wage-Hours Negotiation

Most bargaining models of the trade union focus on employment and wage determination. In this text, working time is included in the set of negotiated variables, the 'right to manage' of the firm being limited to employment decision. The model allows for time-varying effectiveness of workers and fixed costs of labor. After analyzing the general terms of the labor contract in this economy, the relationship between legal working time and effective employment is brought out.
