Urban Sprawl: The French Case

This contribution presents our research on Urban Sprawl in France in view of comparing this phenomenon: importance, causes, eonomic meaning and spatial effects, with comparable research conducted in United Kingdom and United States. In a first part, the phenomenon is analysed between 1962 and 1999 and more specifically between 1990 and 1999 for the whole set of French cities. A second part is dedicated to the case of the Paris Region metropolisation
