Knowledge management is a central and well-established field of research. However, extant knowledge management models are often incomplete, inappropriate for navigating between different abstraction levels, and unfit for quantitative assessment of knowledge management research and practice. We present and illustrate a hierarchical model for knowledge management, which aims at providing a solution to these 3 problems. The model is organised into 3 components: knowledge types, knowledge management processes, and knowledge management context.
