Abstract
The conception of new town of le Vaudreuil has been a landmark for city and regional planners. Initially conceived for the expansion of the greater Rouen, Le Vaudreuil, unfortunately, did not reach its demographic goals. Historical difficulties and errors of management explain this failure. The authors draw the lessons of this project for planners and city managers.
