This planning process intends to address some particular risks that the company faces (ie climate risk, price risk). During this planning process, decision makers struggle to balance short-term profit objectives with a longer-term perspective, particularly the preservation of land productivity. The case provides actual data (ie prices, yields) for several crops during the last five years along with estimated production costs.
