Abstract
The core thesis of this paper is that competitive advantage is largely dependent on day-to-day patterns of behavior within organizations. Since members’ behavior is influenced, but not constrained, by the organization’s structural traits, it is important to understand how structural traits emerge, are re-produced and change over time. We propose a constructivist framework to deal with these dynamics and draw some practical implications on how managers can influence the structuration processes within their organization.
