During the annual conference of the French Arbitration Committee on 13 November 2025, a roundtable discussion was held with Mr. Michel Thirion (TotalEnergies), Professors Veronika Korom and Nicolas Angelet and Mr. Francisco Abriani (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes), moderated by Claire Pauly (Jones Day) to discuss the future of arbitration proceedings initiated under the Energy Charter Treaty. The panellists exchanged their respective views, both from a doctrinal and geopolitical perspective (Professors Veronika Korom and Nicolas Angelet) and from the perspective of users of international arbitration (based both on the experience and recent comparative analysis carried out by a regular user of arbitration instruments, Mr. Michel Thirion, and on the evolution of the choice of these instruments, particulary that of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in recent years, by Mr. Francisco Abriani.
