Abstract
In light of the challenges facing the European project, in a world in “permacrisis”, characterized by an economic confrontation between the USA and China, the withdrawal of many States, includ‐ ing Member States, the risks of pandemics, political regimes claiming illiberalism, the development of sprawling external companies, the question of conquering economic sovereignty on a European scale takes on an urgent dimension. If awareness is established (Letta and Draghi reports, Budapest declaration of 8 November 2024, European Commission programme), the internal dissensions that occupy the forefront raise doubts. But the resilience of the EU has always been spectacular. This article, after a quick presentation of the notion of European economic sovereignty, focuses on certain particularly sensitive subjects that should constitute the priorities of the 2024‐2029 mandate.
