Abstract
This chapter explores how environmental shareholder activism prompts major companies to communicate their environmental commitments. It highlights the gap between the significant climate risk faced by companies and the limited integration of climate considerations in management and governance processes. The chapter examines the rise of environmental shareholder activism, acting as a catalyst for proactive decision-making, and discusses the methods employed by activist shareholders in order to do so. The chapter discusses specific questions posed by the Forum for Responsible Investment (FIR) to the CAC40 companies in France regarding climate change and biodiversity, highlighting the varying responses and best and worst practices among the companies.
