"fr" => "While the role of laws and regulations in structuring markets is well established, it is less understood how rule evasion affects the evolution ofmarkets or howthe interaction between regulators and the regulated about the meaning of compliance influences this effect. The authors study this issue by looking at the development of the asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) market in France, Germany, and the Netherlands from 1999 to 2009. In all three countries, this market involved financial innovations designed to evade regulations. The authors identify diverging trends in the ABCP market that are a result of whether and how regulators were embedded in the different interpretive communities that defined regulatory compliance, such embeddedness being dependent on their discretionary and sanctioning power as well as their expertise. Focusing on these regulatory networks that embed institutions in markets, they propose a synthesis of relational and institutional accounts of the embeddedness of markets."

In all three countries, this market involved financial innovations designed to evade regulations. The authors identify diverging trends in the ABCP market that are a result of whether and how regulators were embedded in the different interpretive communities that defined regulatory compliance, such embeddedness being dependent on their discretionary and sanctioning power as well as their expertise. Focusing on these regulatory networks that embed institutions in markets, they propose a synthesis of relational and institutional accounts of the embeddedness of markets."

All of this begs again the question: are EVs the signs of a new emerging industry? This research is founded on a review of existing literature on business strategy, so as to identify those elements which are necessary to enlarge firm boundaries in an emerging industry, namely those linked to reputation and activism to empower. Our paper then analyses two business cases: Tesla Motors and Better Place."

"fr" => "Because making progress on sustainability-related challenges will require organizational change for most organizations, understanding sustainability dynamic capabilities is of utmost importance. In this theoretical paper, we aim to identify the microfoundations of such sustainability dynamic capabilities on the one hand but, consistent with recent work in this research stream, we do so in a way that is sensitive to the dynamism of the organizational environment. We propose that the microfoundations of sustainability dynamic capabilities will take different forms in different contexts. We contrast moderately dynamic contexts characterized by frequent yet relatively predictable change with highly dynamic contexts in which changes are rapid and not predictable. Achieving sustainability in these different types of contexts poses different types of challenges, relies on different forms of employee behaviors, and is consequently enabled by different individual-level characteristics and different organizational practices and processes. Our paper calls for a more serious consideration of context in investigating how employees' behaviors can affect sustainability at the organizational level, and outlines the implications for organizational policy and practice. The storyline of the case starts in September 2008, when a graduating (DC) and an incoming MBA student (AC) met at an event and discovered their shared interest in launching a new investment fund focused on renewable energy projects in East-Africa. In line with their respective backgrounds and interests, they wrote up an agreement that detailed each member’s roles in the business and the distribution of shares and rewards. It also outlined that DC would be based in Europe to seek funding and would be in charge of putting up all of the financial capital, while AC would be a salaried co-founder based in Kenya, and would focus on finding investable renewable energy projects. After six months, the two founders realized that the initially very promising idea for the venture proved to be much more difficult to develop than they had anticipated. In addition, the bi-continental relationship proved harder to manage. As the team adapted to the new insights and tensions, they realized that the initial shareholder agreement would have to be revisited."

"fr" => "Although there is a high level of practitioner, policymaker, and scholar interest in social entrepreneurship, most research is based on case studies and success stories of successful social entrepreneurs in a single country. We develop a methodology to measure population-based social entrepreneurship activity (SEA) prevalence rates and test it in 49 countries. Our results provide insights into institutional and individual drivers of SEA. Using the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) methodology of Total Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA), we find that countries with higher rates of traditional entrepreneurial activity also tend to have higher rates of social entrepreneurial activity. We develop a broad definition of social entrepreneurship and then explore types based on social mission, revenue model, and innovativeness."

"fr" => "Company leaders are frequently confronted with highly uncertain and risky situations for which they are often ill-prepared, and consequently, in which they often panic. Based on an exploratory case study of extreme rock climber Alexander Honnold, we have developed propositions that help decision-makers to learn to avoid panic in crises. Our findings suggest that gradual exposure to incrementally more challenging tasks by adjusting individual learning goals allows decision-makers to leverage existing skills, and to develop their physical, mental and emotional states simultaneously. Deliberate confrontation with the challenges that may trigger panic through real-life simulation and imagination helps decision-makers to retrain and transform triggers for panic responses, and to build systemic confidence. This organic and holistic growth provides decision-makers with the simultaneous preparation and mastery of their physical, mental, and emotional states to ensure the lightness and calmness necessary not to panic when facing a crisis."

We review these challenges and highlight the most promising way of future researches in each of these dimensions for the EU actors."

"fr" => "Most prior research on platform governance has focused on how large, central platform owners manage their ecosystems of third-party developers in a top-down fashion by setting, overseeing, and enforcing platform rules. Relative to the platform owner, each individual third-party appears small and insignificant. Even though third parties may be weak in isolation, this chapter develops the idea that they can create a counterweight to the platform owner by joining forces and forming a movement. We explore this idea in the context of Apple’s iOS ecosystem by investigating the attempts of various third parties to collectively protest and change Apple’s business practices. Using mainly secondary data, we illustrate how a movement of third -party developers emerged between summer 2016 and summer 2021. Overall, our findings show how various individuals and organizations that were initially disconnected and isolated became part of an emerging social movement, whose constituents became increasingly interconnected and organized. We show how this movement forced Apple into changing some of its App Store rules and influenced regulatory initiatives in the EU and the US. We conclude with a brief discussion of implications for the platform governance literature, regulators, and practitioners."
