Abstract
This chapter explores the implementation of sustainable development (SD) practices in French public hospitals, focusing on the concept of boundary work. It discusses the challenges faced by healthcare organizations in adopting environmentally friendly practices and highlights the need for boundary work to overcome resistance and foster sustainable development. The chapter features empirical findings from a comparative case study of four public hospitals, examining the forms of boundary work performed and the role of internal and external actors in driving sustainability initiatives.
