Abstract
This chapter analyses China’s sustainability initiatives from both classical and critical geopolitics perspectives to identify the impact of these on the regional and world stages. Moreover, faced with the reality of being the world’s leading emitter of CO2, this chapter traces the path of how and why renewable energy and other environmental projects have been initiated to make it one of the most sustainably engaged countries today. Finally, this chapter explores the implications of several large-scale projects and the reason why the success of China’s sustainability drives is crucial in the fight against the climate crisis.
