The case method is commonly used in management education. Many sources of cases are available, along with various approaches for teaching with cases. In this context, teachers need to choose the cases – and more generally the case-based teaching approaches – that will maximize students’ implication and learning. However, this is not an easy task since the impact of case-based teaching approaches on students’ implication and learning is often unclear. In this paper, we report an empirical study in an IS/IT management course, where we have tested different case-based teaching approaches and the influence of these approaches on students’ implication and learning. We present the research method, data collection, and initial results.
