Abstract
There is an increasing need for medicoeconomic studies in cancer care. However, in spite of existing guidelines, economic studies have some difficulties in matching the qualities of clinical studies. As an example, the lack of medical audit and ex post evaluation question the usefulness of cost effectiveness studies applied to new preventive policies from the payers’ perspective.
