President Sarkozy has asked a committee chaired by Professor Stiglitz to define how happiness could be measured. This committee has published its report on September 14, 2009. The present article criticizes the reports main conclusions. It shows why measuring GDP is important and for what reason measuring happiness is necessarily arbitrary.
