Abstract
The twentieth century history of process innovation is likely to hold back Henry Ford’s mass production system and Taiichi Ohno’s lean production system. This paper presents the man who is at the origin of the Toyota system, this “machine which changed the world”. He was a model employee, a rebel to conventions, and a remarkable educationalist.
