Abstract
With its oncoming enlargement, the number of states in the European Union is about to increase by 10, making it a union of 30 countries. In this context, certain questions will be all the more important, such as the relationships between members, the legitimacy of the European Council, of the Commission and of the European Parliament. This most likely entails a new balance of power, due to the population share of each country in the union. However, such a significant change might not be easy to bring about.
