Regulatory Competition, Extraterritorial Powers and Harmonization: The Case of the European Union

This essay's main objective is to understand to what extent trade between European Union countries has been freed of national regulations functioning as non-trade barriers. It must also be mentioned that it deals mainly with regulations directly affecting the production and sale of goods and services and ignores such important issues as regulation of factor movements, common policies and anti-trust policies.
