Reflections on Information Systems Development 1998-2002

This paper proposes three eras in information systems development: (1) to 1988, (2) 1988-1995, (3) 1995-2002. It reflects on the history of this domain and suggests that the future hold many choices with regard to application type, development strategy, the legacy problem, the people involved and their roles, amongst many others.
