Abstract
Socialism is born from utopia. Its more accomplished development can be found in Thomas Moore’s Utopia written in the 16th century. The word was invented in the 19th century as a reaction to the social problems accompanying the industrial revolution. Today, socialism tends to adapt to reality and throw out the utopia that made it appear. In Europe, all politician leaders referring to socialism conclusively prove it from Mitterrand to Zapatero.
