The history of Human Resource Management (HRM) is marked by a continuous progression of this function, and of its power within firms. HRM is based on expertise, and on the fact that hierarchy tends to create a genuine technical power. Today, the theme of power sharing ("Tous DRH") creates the problem of the hierarchy's real empowerment.
