Abstract
The acceleration of product launches and the increasing sophistication of their features have led to questioning on the structuring of new product development projects. Team-based organization has therefore become a key organizational capability. This paper presents the results of a study based on a survey aimed to test the validity of the following proposition: companies with a project-based structure for new product development activity perform better in terms cost, completion deadlines and quality of the developed products compared with companies with functional structures.
