Abstract
The phenomenal growth of the Indian and Chinese economy in Asia accompanied by the increasing FDIs in these two countries has led to an increase in foreign research and development (R&D) activities in this region. The challenge of foreign firms to manage R&D in India and China in the face of opportunities and dilemmas is discussed. If is concluded that foreign companies have to rethink, re-evaluate and re-assess their R&D strategies for both these countries.
