Abstract
A new government in Austria which includes the FPO, a party well-known for his racist opinions, creates problems to the European Union. The situation implies questions about the reasons of the success of this party in Austria and in Europe. Moreover it puts forward the democracy issue and presents it as a perpetual fight. On the eve of the enlargement of Europe, the European Union must be more than ever a guarantee against dictators.
