The "statu-quo" lobbies maintain that the "French model" has the advantage of offering high social protection in spite of a high unemployment rate. This article shows that in France high unemployment is the result of a social protection that is misconceived. In countries where the job market is less rigid than in France, conditions offered to employees are uncomparably better.
