Abstract
The achievement of societies are not totally due to their competitive position or to their assets. Since 10 years, a new explanation is proposed: it is due to the specific resources of each society, those which differentiate it from the others and enable to understand the variations of performance. This new approach places the skills which are the less observable, the less systematized, and the most difficult to be transmitted among the most precious strategic assets. Anyway, their management is very delicate. It requires understanding, opened and flexible organizations, modest top managers and leaders eager for knowledge.
