Abstract
The two large schools of thought as regards explanation of the performances of the firms agree on a point: present conditions _ market structures and strategy for one, port folio of resources for the other _, explain the performances of the firms. The past and the experience accumulated would have nothing to do there. The lyric industry shows the contrary: the houses of opera most subjected to the legacies of the past are those which have the weakest financial autonomy and the lowest occupancy rate of their auditorium.
