We show on this article that GDP per capita was in 1960 in France about 66 % of its value in the United States. In 1980 this percentage had risen to 83 % since that date it has declined to 73 % to-day. This relative improvement then decline can be explained by the changes in economic policy which have taken place on the two stores of the Atlantic Ocean in the early 1980's.
