Abstract
Leo Strauss’ work on “Socrates and Aristophanes” is essential if one wants to understand the philosopher’s attitude towards modernity. This attitude involves ethical assumptions concerning the status of Economics in the arena of political life. This attitude is completely opposed to Alexandre Kojève’s view – i.e. to that of a Modern.
