Abstract
The pragmatist framework can bring an important contribution to the process perspective on organizations, in organization and management studies. Through the theories of semiotic mediation, inquiry and dialogic transaction, it questions dualist approaches, in particular the subject/object, situated/generic, micro/macro, representation/reality, thought/action, and individual/collective dualisms. In the pragmatist authors’ perspective, action and thought about action are one single transformative process. Actors continually make meaning of it through their dialogic exchanges: any thought is thought of world transformation, and any active transformation of the world is embedded in a field of meanings.
