This chapter reviews the main academic and professional literature on the compensation of expatriates. It depicts the different methods and components of the expatriate's compensation. It shows that these are influenced by different characteristics of the organization. They also have an impact on some issues in international human resources management such as the adjustment of expatriates or cost control.
