Human Resources Planning in France : Lessons of the Recent Economic Recession

The article analyses the recent history of HR planning in France. A synthesis of empirical studies reveals the hesitant innovations in "gestion prévisionnelle" (manpower planning) until the late 80's. It is shown that the depth of the recent recession has caused a re-evaluation of the meaning and utility of HR planning.
