Faut-il craindre les dioxines ?

This article tries to sum-up our knowledge about dioxin toxicity. Our knowledge comes either from unfortunate accidents (Seveso) or from laboratory experiments on animals. In neither case is it possible to establish with certainty that dioxins are cancerogenic. However, the World Health Orgnization has decided that dioxins were dangerous beyond an extermely low concentration corresponding to a zero risk level. Such a threshold is not compatible with the level of risk assumed in everyday life.
