Abstract
Open source software is now widely developed and used. In this paper, we describe a new paradigm based on a similar concept, the community source. We describe the main principles guiding the community source project. Then we propose a research model intending to predict the adoption of a community source project by education institutions and more specifically by higher education universities . Our model results from a tight combination of adoption models related to the open source phenomenon and those considering the e-learning domain. A pilot study has been conducted confirming the main hypotheses of our model. Future research will include a wide field study allowing us to verify the model hypotheses.
