Abstract
The adoption and the enforcement of domestic competition law is a necessity even in small open economies. On the one hand the adoption of such laws enables countries to better allocate their resources in sectors which are not open to international competition (such as services) , on the other hand, the reduction of trade frictions requires international cooperation in the antitrust area and therefore the existence of domestic competition authorities.
