Abstract
The spatial division of labor was invented by P. Aydalot, during the 80’s, as a theoretical analysis of the location of activities. This theory had to be revisited by himself under the pressure of technical innovations (electronics especially) giving birth to a dynamic model of asynchronous industrial growth of regions. This field of research on the role of innovation for industrial location, has been pursued, from this, by many economists in Europe and North America.
